Man City loanee James Trafford named in League One Team of the Week

Wanderers goalkeeper James Trafford has been named in the latest League One Team of the Week.

The Manchester City loanee kept a clean sheet as Ian Evatt’s men recorded a hard-fought win against Forest Green despite playing more than an hour with 10 men.

Dion Charles got the opening goal after six minutes, beating Ross Doohan with a clinical volley after getting on the end of Gethin Jones’ cross.

The Northern Ireland international was then shown a bizarre red card after Elias Kachunga appeared to lash out at Brandon Cooper.

Trafford made four saves in total against Rovers and has now kept 14 clean sheets in League One since the start of the campaign – more than any other goalkeeper in the division.

Elsewhere, seven Ipswich players are named in the team following an emphatic 4-0 victory against Morecambe at Portman Road.

Wes Burns, Leif Davis, George Edmundson, Lee Evans, Nathan Broadhead, Freddie Ladapo and Conor Chaplin are all selected.

Wycombe’s Jack Grimmer also makes the cut following the Chairboys’ 2-0 win against Oxford at Adams Park.

Port Vale’s Funso Ojo and Portsmouth’s Marlon Pack complete the line-up following impressive displays against Derby and Fleetwood respectively.

Pompey boss John Mousinho is named as manager, having began his Fratton Park tenure with back-to-back wins.

Tuesday night’s result saw Wanderers consolidate their place in the top six, having lost just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Evatt’s men have a six-point cushion over seventh-place Wycombe at this stage, although they have played an extra game.

The Whites face a tough trip to Charlton at the weekend. The Addicks have won their last three league fixtures under former Bolton man Dean Holden.

League One Team of the Week: Trafford, Burns, Grimmer, Edmundson, Davis, Ojo, Evans, Pack, Chaplin, Ladapo, Broadhead. Manager: Mousinho
