Wanderers forward Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has taken to social media to share an update on his ankle injury.
Bodvarsson is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering the injury during the 3-0 win against Portsmouth at the University of Bolton Stadium.
The experienced striker revealed on his Instagram page that he has now had an operation and says it “went well”.
Bodvarsson has had a run of bad luck this season, having only recently returned from a broken nose which required surgery to repair.
The Iceland international had scored eight goals in 27 appearances this season prior to his latest injury setback.
Speaking last week, Ian Evatt told The Bolton News: “It was unexpected. It looked innocuous but sometimes as I have said before the innocuous ones can be the worst.
“I am gutted for Jon because we feel like he was just getting back to his best after a disrupted start to the season. The last few weeks we saw some really good signs for him.
“We will support him as always and hope that he makes a speedy recovery.”
He added: “Mentally, it has been very challenging for him and you have to remember that he and his wife have moved to Bolton and bought into the town and culture here.
“Sometimes when you are alone, it is tough. And it could be even tougher if Jon is not doing what he wants to do every weekend, and that’s play football.”
Wanderers are currently light on numbers in attack, with Dan Nlundulu also set to be out of action for at least a couple of weeks.
Evatt has confirmed the club is hoping to bring in a couple of strikers before the transfer window closes next week.
The Whites have been linked with Burton forward Victor Adeboyejo, who has scored 13 goals since the start of the campaign.
His representatives were understood to be in attendance at the UniBol last night as Wanderers recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Forest Green.
