Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been accused of “refusing” to engage with junior staff during their time as senior royals at the Firm. A source told The Times that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would “take it as an insult” when having to speak to junior staff members at the Palace. The royal couple were the subject of “bullying” claims following their departure from the UK. Buckingham Palace announced its intentions to investigate those claims, with the report findings concluded.
Relations between Meghan and the team at Kensington Palace were said to be unravelling as a senior aide reportedly raised their concerns with the couple directly following their engagement in 2017.
The senior aide was said to have spoken to the couple about the difficulties raised following their treatment of some staff members.
Meghan was said to have replied “it’s not my job to coddle people” when approached by the unknown aide.
According to reports, the Duchess was not a fan of engaging with junior members of staff.
Policies for staff working for the royal family have changed in wake of bullying allegations made against the Duchess, according to a senior palace source.
The source told Hello Magazine: “I’m not going to comment on the changes that have been made to the policies and procedures – I’ll just say that the policies and procedures have been updated… the policies in relation to the Concern at Work apply to everyone who works within the royal household.
“Because of the confidentiality of the discussions we have not communicated the detailed recommendations. The recommendations have been incorporated within policies and procedures wherever appropriate and policies and procedures have changed.”
Buckingham Palace launched the investigation in 2021 as it asked past and present staff to speak of their experiences with Meghan.
